Tigre Y Oliva: Filipino Bean-to-Bar Chocolate.

100% Filipino-mad, Tigre Y Oliva makes chocolate bars with no fillers and no icky preservatives. From bean to bar, it's all made by Filipinos who are passionate about elevating the local chocolate scene.

Made with beans from local chocolate farms from Davao and processed by Filipino chocolatiers, I love the whole brand philosophy and persona of Tigre Y Oliva! I was lucky enough to work with them briefly on their social media and even a brand story article. A good friend of mine arranged for me to get some free products from Tigre Y Oliva! Yey!

I was able to try a number of their products with their kitschy yet premium packaging. Highly recommended for gifting and treating yourself! Here's my honest review of the products:

Single Origin Chocolate Cookies (P370/6 pieces) is a mix of chocolate chip and double chocolate cookies. Sprinkled with Tigre Y Oliva's chocolate chunks, the cookies were moist and chewy! While great, I think the Dulce Gatas Bombs (P280/box of 9 pieces) and the Pili Butter Bars (P300/box of 6) would have to be my favorites.

The Dulce Gatas Bombs are Tigre Y Oliva's take on the French Bonbon. Imagine biting into a shell of 70% dark, single-origin chocolate, oozing with carabao milk and muscovado sugar. LOVE. It is a bit pricey for 9 pieces, but it's worth the splurge!

The Pili Butter Bar was a revelation. Who knew single-origin chocolate would work so well with Patis?! The Pili Butter Bar comes with 3 distinct layers enrobed in single-origin dark chocolate. House-made pili nut butter, chocolate ganache, and patis (fish sauce) salted caramel.

Overall, I enjoyed all the treats from Tigre Y Oliva albeit a bit pricey. You pay for the quality and the vision of elevating Filipino Chocolate, chocolatiers, and cacao farmers.
