Sugo: Best Pasta Spot in Glasgow?

In a recent trip to visit family in Glasgow, they took me to a place that some argue offers the best pasta in town. The queue to get a table can take up to an hour+ and they are currently on a walk-ins only basis. We got lucky on getting a table for six for just a 10 minute wait.

Sugo Pasta is a beautiful restaurant concept. Their menu offers authentic regional food from Italy and freshly-made pasta with seasonal ingredients. And the VIBES guys, THE VIBES are on point. It's lively, it's welcoming. it's everything you want from a stylish restaurant minus the snobbiness.

You can choose from 10 regional pastas and seasonal specials. They also have your usual starters and desserts. Having a very limited menu might seem off putting for some but to me, it shows confidence. it says "This is what we do, this is what we're good at, anything else is fluff."

Whatever you order from Sugo will be a delight. After my first bite of the Special #3, the Bucatini Carbonara with Guanciale, Pecorino & Egg Yolk (£11), I understood why a lot of Glaswegians call it the best pasta in town. No words except one: Delicious *insert chef's kiss here*. Would put it on top 3 pastas ever.

Sugo is located inside The Lighthouse, former office of the Glasgow Herald and designed by Glasgow/Scotland's pride, Charles Rennie Machintosh.

At £8-14 per plate, I would say it's reasonably priced for the experience you're getting. The location boasts of local heritage, the food is simple yet stunning, and the vibes are "you had to be there" vibes. 10/10 would come back to Glasgow just to have a plate of Sugo.
