KinBen in Japanese means diligence and hard work, making the term a great name for any business! KinBen is the moniker of a Malabon-based Takoyaki and drinks shop run by a former student of mine from the City of Malabon University, Paolo Perolino. I was able to try all of their takoyaki and all of them are superb! Unlike other Takoyaki shops that often cheat you with flour, Kin Ben's takoyaki is loaded with fillings and yummy toppings!
They make their batter fresh daily and slice up only the freshest ingredients to go with it. At P49/4 pieces and P59/4 pieces, they are definitely on top of my affordable adore list! The Pork Knight is a must-try! I love the flavors and textures in there! Definitely ticks the savory cravings! The Yellow Belter is also yummy although I'm automatically biased to anything with cheese!
To pair with your peckish appetite, they also have a variety of sweet drinks! I was able to try their delightful Ube Delight and their Lychee Fruit Tea! Both are really good on their own but the fruit tea pairs better with the takoyakis. The lychee is refreshing, perfect for a hot day.
This Malabon-based business started when two working students realized not only can the business provide some extra moolah for their families but also help other working students. As of writing, the small business employs three more working students; which I am all up for! I love supporting businesses like these!
"We believe that hard work makes the difference" Paolo Perolino, creator of KinBen.
